Nice Polan

Nice Poulan. Looks like a 2000. I've had one for about 20 years. Runs good...works great. I think an 18" bar is a tad big though. A 14" bar is more like it. I also got one for the parts in 2002 for $5.00. It was siezed up and shows some wear but I started messing with it...just tinkering and got it to run and it runs well. They cut and are light weight. Good for limbing. A good value.

I think it is a conspiracy. I believe they build every 50th saw well just so that some one will stand up and say "hey these are great" I have a pile of these things that must be 4' deep. This is nothing against you Elmore. Just like your story, every once in a while I meet some one who thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread. They will tell me about having it for years and cutting cord after cord of wood and the saw looks it. Then you look at the pile in my shed and I have scratch my head. I think it's just a plain old conspiracy.:monkey:

IVE GOT 3 POULAN 2000'S. I TO CANT COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW THE ONE IVE HAD FOR 20 PLUS YEARS.IT STILL RUNS GREAT. IVE GOT 14 IN BARS ON MINE AND ALWAYS USE 32:1 GAS OIL MIX. I THOUGHT THEY WERE GREAT SAWS UNTILL I STARTED BUYING GREAT SAWS TO COMPARE THEM WITH. MY 630 SUPER JONSERED WILL DO 3 TIMES THE WORK IN 1/3 THE TIME. I STILL HAVE THE LITTLE POULANS SITTING ON THE SHELF TO REMEMBER THE SLOW CUTTING DAYS. ITS KIND OF LIKE THE TIMES BEFORE I BUILT MY HYDRAULIC LOG SPLITTER. THE OLD SLEDGE AND WEDGE GOT THE JOB DONE BUT IT SURE WAS A LOT SLOWER.

Maybe somebody got stuck buying the whole happy meal just for the toy. I am personaly not crazy over that series of Poulan myself, come to think of it homeowner Stihls annoy me also. And why do we have bi weekly threads on 031's not running right?

Hey now, I like my poulan. I had to take a stihl 038 when I bought it. Swear to god.

Nice re-badged Dolmar. How much...does it weigh? Are you selling it?

20lbs & 90cc...wow! Nice ride...if it had wheels. What a beauty!

Bought a new Poulan 4000 in 1986 or 87. Worst saw I ever ran. Could not keep the carb adjusted, carried a screwdriver in pocket to tweak it every day. Had to be reringed after three seasons of moderate use (homeowner). Had very low compression again when I finally bit the bullet several years later and bought a Husky 51 out of a pawn shop. The 51 was (and is) 10 times the saw the Poulan ever was.

DanMan -- You are right; it's an 017 or 018. Certainly not an 025.

Plus, that's not the original Stihl pull-start handle -- just a cheap replacement lawn-mower part from Wal-Mart.

You sure it isn't the ElastoStart handle? :deadhorse: sorry, just had to.

Would be funny if the Poulan had a D-grip race handle on it.
