How to handle?

Years ago I had a guy working for me that was a thief subcontractor of sorts. When somebody was planning a burglary of some sort where there were dogs, they invited him along.

He went in, took out the dog, then the thieving could begin. Don't count on dogs to keep the bad guys out. There are dog specialists that don't mind beating up or killing your dog.

I always told him never to steal from me, but he tried a dumb trick. Fraudulent charges on our NAPA open account.

He went to jail.

I think in this case a police report could be used against me if I find those bastards with my stuff. Their yard is 20 miles a way, and I bet they feel secure with the distance, what they don't know is I spent half my life in that city, I am friends the the good, the bad, and the ugly people who live there(some of the pretty girls:msp_smile It's a dump of a city, and the streets are tough, and I am well thought of there. Their in my terf, and haven't a clue.
I am an honest Citizen, I respect the police more or less. They have a job to do. Robberys, shootings, gangs, ect. my stuff isn't even on their radar. No, it'll be handled East LA style if I can prove to my self who exactly ripped me off. Those kind of people who do things like that, stealing from hard working people, don't mind going to jail for a few months. They don't respect the same things we do, they don't fear the police. They respect a good a_ _ beating though I bet. here is a post from a few years ago.

ha!... this post reminds me of when a former alcoholic "friend" owed me money for a very long time.... i busted my ass pruning his front yard and he just stiffed me... i searched for him for months and months... told everyone who knew him i was pissed and i was going to find him.... i hunted and hunted and he kept ducking and hiding... i was steaming pissed off... then one day came a knock at my door... i looked through the peep hole and it was him... it was a strange feeling... i was happy and pissed at the same time... i opened the door and grabbed him by the collar and pulled him into my apartment and locked the door... then he pleaded as i beat him to a bloody pulp... then i took his money and dragged him out the door and threw him down the stairs... the apt manager came over to see what was going on... (he was a good friend of mine)... after a while the dude got up and limped away... then the manager told me to hose the blood off the stairs and the side of the building... what really bothered me was this guy looked me right in the eye and told me he would pay me and he just ###### me over.... he took food right off my table...

Imagine a society without police...


Sure. Making a report often seems like a waste of time, but it is the RIGHT thing to do, it covers your butt very nicely when you take your stuff back from the thief, and it occasionally works to your advantage.

Ha! That would be nice, a society without police. How would the state get it's revenue?

In my eyes the police report is more to protect you from the police than anything else. That way if you're cought breaking down a door, stomping someone's head in, and taking your 200t back..... you might get some leniency..... without the report you look like the thief. If you can get your #### back without any police involvement that is really the way to go. However if you are caught the first thing the cops are gonna say is "why didn't you file a report"

Well...that is the point I have been trying to make all along.

There are lots of good reasons for doing it. Not many for not reporting.
