How to prune a Japanese Maple that is growing great!

I would leave it to it's own devices but here is an old maple that someone took a lot of time on. In my opinion if you want to plant pretty flowers and such you should do it away from the most beautiful plant in the yard. I like to grow them not cut them.

Actually, he did two of them and look where it got him. You know the old saying, "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature".
