OK not sure weather this thing will kick me out tryin to list the site but here goes. " " Washington Prosaws " " Dean will take care of you . I know he prefers to work on brand new saws as a general practise. Check out the on line pro shop - Gallery of work . A grade 2 Mod is what your lookin for. I know the price seems steep but after performing more than one I can attest to it takin that much time & without the transfer work. One slip more so on a small cyinder & the patient dies. I dont climb but know if I did would'nt settle for anything less. :chainsaw:

We used to get profit sharing via a really good Christmas bonus. If we busted-hump all year, and made the company money, we'd see a good bonus. The year I left to do my own thing... My bonus was $2,500.00 after tax.

.

Another thing is to volenteer them some time on a weekend. Half a day maybe. They choose there own property or that of friends or family and you turn up with the gear and do the trees/garden whatever. Make it so the worker acts as boss to some extent. His family/friends will have a higher respect and appreciation for what he does which will make him happier about what he does. Costs little but means alot.

I like this one alot, they gain some free work and respect etc.

I gave my guys Powered by Stihl T-shirts on Friday with their checks, got them from the dealer $9.75 each.

a few Franklin,s are a good way too go, thats the whole reason i go to work:clap:

i agree.

a cook out at your home or local park would be personal.cash has no staying power.

i always remember where i got a good tool or knife.get them a nice Case knife and have it engraved .

Some thoughts from an employee.

Cookout at the boss's house sucks. Don't get me wrong, i get along great with the guys at the company, but after spending 60+ hours a week with them, what makes you think i want to spend my precious free time with them?

If you are going to get your guys a saw, some words of advice: ask them what they will use, don't get them a saw they have no use for and then give them a hard time when it just sits on the truck or they end up selling it. And if you get them a saw they will use, don't make them feel guilty for using it. Had a boss give me a 020 many years ago for finishing a contract two months early. Second day i had it, freak accident ripped the handle right off. The boss never let me hear the end of it "abusing his gift, etc." Fixed the saw, gave it back to him, then quit.

Clothes are good. A nice set of carhartt bibs, hoodie, etc. in the fall is great. Seen to many bosses though, that turn the gift clothing into billboards so they can get some free advertising. That's not so good.

If your mind is set on the food thing, give your guys a gift certificate for a fancy restaurant that they and their significant other can enjoy together. Helps you look better to the girlfriend and maybe they won't curse your company so hard when you have to call their man out on storm at 2 am.

My favorite: the last day of the week and the boss surprises us and sends us home with pay for the afternoon after we finish our first job.

And of course, give me a firm handshake, look me in the eye, and sincerely give me a thank you, and i'll about walk on coals for you.

most good replys,, coke and titty bars? i wish i was 25 again !!! LOL

this is what i would do....

skip the backyard thing . get a really nice place to eat out ,, with a private room.. invite the the guys and their gals... dress up kinda place , some place they wouldn't usually go to..

have a cocktail hour.. between the cocktail hour and dinner being served,,, give the speech about what good guys they are,, ETC !!! have hankie ready...

after dinner , before desert,, hand out gifts....thanking them again for the help..

no cash !!!! as someone else said,,, cash melts in your wallet....
nothing work related either !!! it's supposed to be a gift !!!

get a gift card for something that they could use.. something they wanted, or wanted to do....they will remember this for a lot longer than a c-note or 2... jmho stumps

Close John, Stygar first day back in the lift wow Im out of shape still a little sore but it feels goooooooood!!!!!

Just keep cracking the whip, keep it real. I agree with the no cookout thing, been there, its lame, besides who wants to see the drunkin stupid side of people you spend good productive hours with-you know it allways turns into that, lol.

take them boys paintballing and make sure you are available to be shot at.

you will find out quick who might not like who by the amount of paint on them.

and a days pay in cash at the end of the festivites should keep em happy and working hard.

or if you dont want to give straight cash offer them a couple hundred dollars worth of gear out of baileys or sherrill or wesspur.

or maybe a gas card worth the same amount as you would have given them.

now that is one hellofa sweet thank you:clap:

Cash comes and goes, dinners can be gotten on their own and the tittie bar, well, if staring at some slob is a way of saying thanks, then .... How about a raise? These guys just saved you many thousands of dollars and many customers because they too have a vested interest in the company. You don't have a business, they don't work and visa versa. $100 bonus is gone in a night but a raise is a continuous thank you and even though it might hurt your wallet at first, how much pain did they save you in those three weeks? How much of a raise? That's your call. After three years working weekends, I just gave my helper a $2 hourly raise. He's definately worth it and I couldn't do what I do as well as I do without him.

2 bucks in 3 years?

button up your shirt before your heart falls out.

He works one day a week and even then if i can find him when his college pals are around. If he were full time I'd pay him a lot more because we'd get that much more done. He's very happy with it and in his full time job he got a raise there too coincedentally at the same time so he's doing ok.
