There needs to be a emoji of a corpulent little dude over stuffed with popcorn coming out his ears to accurately describe me.

Are you interested in this stuff Jim?

I've been building saws too long I guess, they all sorta seem to same these days.

This build is pretty cool though.

I never even started the 665 before I tore it down. But I will do some videos of it with different carbs and coils....

Building saws too long? Ken Dunn had about 28 years in. Get crackin', buster.

Mod work is mod work, but these are a pretty sweet group of saws to start with. I can't wait to see a video of this thing when you're done. I also can't wait for my 5100s to show up in the mail.

Pound for pound the Six series Solo saws 656/665/675/681 are in front power to weight wise over any of the offerings from the major two in their respective classes. A 681 will cut right with many 90cc saws that have greater bulk/wieght. lts a shame Solo has gone the way it has with ALKO but at least they are still alive and kicking. Randy always has good things to say about the six series, they are good runners stock which gives the builders a challenge improving them. l think more than one builder has looked down a 7900 or 681 jug scatching their head thinkin why do these things go the way they do!lol

How different are the coil & carbs from the dolmar? I kicked around the idea for a solo, but the dolmar parts seem to be a lot easier to find.

The carbs and coils are interchangeable....

The Solo used a Walbro and the Dolmar uses a Zama though.

The first thing you see is those tiny transfer ports......and then you think...

"I could really open those up".

And you've made your first mistake.

So what's the scoop on that? Or are you blowing some smoke? I did notice the incredible overlap stains around the transfer intake and wondered what's up.
