i've been happy with a 42" bar off a 111s jonsereds. around here by the time i find a tree thats big enough its been zipped and burned though by some little dinker saw.

i recently found a tree that was felled and offered to cut it up for the homeowner.. i left a note with the daughter.. she said her dad wanted slabs to make tables with. that was my idea as well. i offered to cut it for fun then... i don't think she understood the fun part.. then again i don't think shes on this site either.

they think i'm nuts here in maine.... i say frig it.. i'll cut the thing lengthwise...
lines up your cut well.

that big azd bar makes sense that it was for cedar.. should go through like shredded wheat. then again.. i'm learning the differences between tree types for different areas.

Good grief it would take three files,a 12 pack and an afternoon to sharpen that chain.

And an 090G to pull it!

The good ole 090G is great for pulling the long bars. I need to pull one down off the shelf and cut a little before the heat gets here. I also like some of my Homelite 3100G's on the long bars.

Bill

:phone: Sidenote: for those interested I will be hosting a vintage saw race Saturday August 4th in Hamilton IL. I will post more details later

There used to be a pic on madsens on a guy that had a 8 foot bar on a 3120, it was a oregon bar custom ordered from oregon. They where cutting a 18 foot in diameter cedar that fell on a campground road. They used the guy's 966 cat loader to roll the logs off the road. That is the biggest bar on a saw I've seen.:) :greenchainsaw:

Did it look like this?

Those are some WICKED photos! I went to Humboldt Sate University...my girlfriend and I would go hiking in some of those old growth forests. There are some stumps around there size of my TV room!! Nobody does trees like the Pacific Northwest. If I didn't have to actually find a job, I would have loved to stay there.
