Had this saw for a few years, cuts great but leaks out all its
bar oil when sitting...took the covers off and had a look....
looks like oil is gravity fed thru some rubber blocks to a
metal rod with small hole in it which I assume spins and pulls
the oil from the tank and pushes it upwards to the bar holes
to lube the chain...cant really see where it is leaking from
anyone seen this before? also it says to lube the clutch
bearings but no mention of how in the manual...
Any recommendations for a better chain for this 14 incher?
This is just for those ice and wind storms that i get once
in a while, any bigger than than I call a pro...
Just want to get this one in top notch shape before the
next storm.
Thanks!

These Poulan/Huskies just do that...........
I would just drain it before putting it away. Don't worry about the clutch bearings, they have likely been submersed in bar oil
for a while.
You might look into a loop of Carlton's N1 chain.

I think saws leak oil, parcticularly Electolux's, because the operator yanks violently on the saw when pinched, thus causing damage to the oiler.

Many saws leak bar oil, even many new ones. The older red Dolmars are the worst one I'm familiar with. The run O.K. , they just leak oil. I sit them on shallow cookie sheet type pans sometimes to hold down on the mess.

I sold one 2036 (thats the Jonsered equal). It never ran what I would call good. Lousy throttle cable set-up would not return to idle reliably, and I couldn't get it rev but about 8,500. I'm talking new, out of the box.I just kept lowering the price, finally went for $75, haven't seen it since.

Those two rubber blocks need replacing. They tend to go bad and not seal well. The bottom one forms into a rubber pick up tube going into the tank. Pretty simple to replace.
