Okay, I'll set the story for you.

You can probably all relate to this one, that familiar opening line; "Oh, so you have chainsaws do you"

My recently retired father-in-law has decided that as one of his cost savings for the coming winter, he's going to open up the fireplace in his living room and start heating with a real fire. He has a farmer friend with an endless supply of felled timber just needing to be cut up into useable firewood size and needs a saw. Generous as I am, I stepped forward and offered to give him one of my saws. I'm thinking of giving him my 162 as it is a.) a decent saw, b.) has decent power for firewood and c.) is one of my older saws, but does have a functioning chain brake.

Of all my saws this is the most reliable starter, but it does look pretty beat up and it has one problem. The last time I used it, it cut fine, but after about 5-10 minutes it loads up then cuts out. Always starts right back up, but what's the problem? Air leak?

I'd like to get it sorted before I hand it over to him.

Doubt if it's an air leak,as it would heat up and usually start hard. try cleaning out your carb. be careful of that little spring under the needle lever, it disappear's in a hurry.
