Nice to see 246's at work. My Dad and I each have one. I think it's one of the best saws that nobody talks about. Light, fast, great balance. no troubles with either of ours.

Fun to see the small huskys in action there, and I like the Southern accent Mr. Troll is acquiring:hmm3grin2orange:

Yep Stihl Crazy can sure move that Husky.

SawTroll has pick up somewhat of a southern accent, just hope it don't get to deep south, hard to understand some of them Cajuns. ya know.

The Stihls of that size doesn't have the rpms to do it.........

..but the saw stalled several times during the "back-cut", so the saw prolly was a bit small for the application.

It had an aggressive chain on it but you are right it works the best in 12" and smaller wood. Due to severe arthritis in my left shoulder the sub 50 saws are the only ones I can use all day. 3 hours on a 361 and I can't lift my arm. The little saws take a beating so I don't have to.

I can read you, Crazy, as I have severe arthritis in my right hand, and some in the left also - for starting a saw, I have no option but drop-starting, with the left hand on the rope......

Troll, are you doing anything for your arthritis? I am using Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate. This allowed me to use my hunting bow again.
I am also playing with copper braclets and magnets but see no change there. Do you have any things that help you?

Seems like we use about the same medicine, it helps, but then
not enough.............

...Vioxx was perfect, but all of a sudden it became dangerous.....:monkey: :monkey:

...never had a really good day after that......:bang: :bang:

All except no chain brake application when taking a hand off of the saw.

For me,

Hand off of the saw=chainbrake

More than 2 footsteps=chainbrake

HUH....:greenchainsaw: :monkey: :monkey:

.. chainbreak never on......:biggrinbounce2:

....and the 361 with 3/8"x8 and 15" bar is the saw I usually use for limbing my birches.......:greenchainsaw:

The 353 is usually only used for scrub/thinning.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you don't make $1000 per day with the brake on. If a person had to cut by all the "rules" very little would get done. If you can cut 2 tractor trailer loads of logs or 40 cords of wood per day playing with the brake I will hire you.

Right!

..and congrats with 500 "MVP" posts........:greenchainsaw:

Just because you say you cant do it does not mean it cant be done. If you dont want to set the brake, then dont. Take off the throttle lock too. I made more than $1000/day plenty of times, all while using the brake. I cut metal for a living now, and I cant read my mics as easily with my safety glasses on, but my eyes are worth more than ANY money. Happy cutting

246

I picked up a 246 today (for free) at my local dealer. It was in the "back room" with the junk. The piston and cylinder are in great shape. The saw is complete, less the oil pump, clutch, drum and rim, and chain brake parts.
After a good clean up, the saw appears in very good condition. Watching that video makes me want to get it going soon!

All I can say is your going to love it.
I have two 254's and a 262 now.

This week I should get to try out my project 242. The last part will be here on Mon. It has new crank, piston, clutch and will put new gas line in tomorrow. Can't wait to try it against the 246's.

The local Husky dealer built 2-254's and 1-257 from his huge pile of parts and they all sold in 3 days. A 254 is the most sought after saw around these parts.
