I may have an old 266 case with crank in the garage if it or #s off it would help.
@Cantdog It would be great if you could chase up that info you posted in post #6
I noticed that Husky had 3 cranks for 266:
up to 1986.1, IPL# 501 52 84-01
1986 .2 to 1987 .1 , IPL # 501 52 84-03
1987 .2 to 1993 , IPL# 501 52 84-02 (thats the last IPL I have)
Now, the middle crank, 501 52 84-03, could in fact be a typo??? Its only in 2 IPLs and why would they jump a last digit then go back one???
In my 272 IPLs, 1993, it shows crank # 501 52 84-02. This is the same part # as the later 266! So this is a start. IM 99% sure that this is the larger thread (flywheel side) and takes the seperate key flywheel. I have one of these with # 501 77 70-01 on the crank.
SO, im going to take the punt and try and use this crank with my early 266 flywheel (the taper seems a good/proper fit) I just hope all the physical sizes are correct (i.e. lengths, machines shoulders etc)
Any thoughts??
