Is there much difference between the two? From reading this forum (which is great for someone who just cuts a dozen times a year at most) and looking at the web site, it seems that the 350 has an automatically adjusting oiler? Otherwise are these pretty similar? My local hardware shop didn't give me any more info. But I ended buying the 345 -- it was $289 vs. $339.

The differences I am sure of is engine size, manually adjustable oiler on the 350, and metal handlebar on the 350 vs plastic on the 345.

Another interesting fact is that the 345 is only 1/10 of a horsepower less than the 350. 3.0 vs 3.1. It's a wonder that the 345 doesn't sell better than it does.

The 345 is a great little saw. I use it a lot for limbing. Light and plenty of power as long as you don't overload it. Good buy!

Yeah, but the 345 weighs 3 oz. more!

Really, the 345 sounds like a perfect saw for this application at a very good price...so long as it is stored properly between uses.

Thanks for the feedback. Although I'm not doing a lot of chainsaw work on a regular basis, I didn't want to get a Husky 142 (which is a Consumer Report's pick). Seem like a few minor differences between the 345 and 350, but wanted to hear any practical differences (such as the 350 has much less vibration than the 345, longevity, etc.). As a newb, I doubt I could tell anyway, but I'm a specs nerd, and I know people in this forum would probably know the differences.

Thanks all!

(such as the 350 has much less vibration than the 345, longevity, etc.). ....

Actually there is a measurable difference in the vibes, the 345 has more than 50% more vibes than the 350 according to DLG lab tests......

...but I don't think it matters much, as the numbers are low for both models.

353 has even less vibes than 350...

The 345 is our best selling saw!. We don't even stock the 350 due to the slight differences between the two. If someone wants to move up in quality and size we put them into a 353.
