Now this will be the tell if I keep that 346 NE or not.
Echo 501.
I will wait till other open regular muffler shows up.
I know husky is smoother due to antivibe.
From when I was comparing OE 346 and other Echo.

346 at 13.1K with the 14.1k coil.

501 muffler been opened up so should help it keep up some.
🤷‍♂️
But ya stock muffler was pretty lame with their stock safe tune in the 11's. She is in 13's now too.

Going to run the new husky C33 325 on both saws.

That 501 looks to be 1.5-2 inches wider in the body. That alone is a big downer, imo.

I'd be curious how different the handlebars are. Shape, size, and positioning.

You got a 346ne, ain't no need to look further!
I have had so many of them stock and ported. OE and NE over the years. Used to buy the darn things brand new.

Partner 5000 plus was the ones I liked till they got long in the tooth and the 346 replaced those.

Lot of 346 stuff NLA anymore like their pushing us away to the newer. So like the 346 replaced the 5000 for me back in the day hoping this 501 that can be bought new still with parts is close.

Mainly want to feel the torque in the cut over a cut time honestly. Not in any races anymore. Wood dont care I dont care if a second or 2 slower.

Just a few runners stock and ported.

Sometimes it isnt about the quickest cut.

The lighter weight of 501 is noticed.

Lets see if I can find a few of them 346 over the years. Also xpG in OE and NE too.

Just a few I have had over the years. Lot of pics have been lost on puters over the years and didnt do phone pics way back.

But I do know they have their cult like following. That whole series was great IMO. 351 353 too. Owned lot of those too.

I'll measure that stuff in a bit.

I know 501 lighter by a little bit. 501 under 11 and 346 over 11 by 4 ounces.

Thinking the echo uses outer rim clutch drum set up and husky used the inner rim for sure.

501 4910 cylinders local holding

Wow! It looked wider than a half inch difference from the photos.

Nice research!
The 490 recoil cover with that spring assist crap is like a balloon sticking out. Someday a nice used regular cover will turn up for it.

Weight of these is what sells me with regular carbs.
