Just purchased a 'Bum-rag' SX75 (~$130AU)

index_231_5.jpg

My old man borrowed my(ok its really his) Stihl 034 and is taking his sweet time to return it so I decided to grab one of these things to get me by in the meantime. Looks like the same as the SX62 but bigger capacity and 22" bar?

Not off to a good start - wouldn't fire up out of the box, something up with the carb by the looks of it, flooding the engine. Managed to start it by holding the throttle wide open but it ran rich and like a dog, then stalled as soon as I release the throttle. Also the pull start handle slipped out of my greasy hands and shattered when it retracted back the home position!

In communication with the supplier and hopefully after I send them a video of the issue they will post me the parts to fix it. In the meantime I will probably pull the carb off and have a closer look to see if its something simple. Have to expect some QC issues at this price point I suppose, just hope they’re easy to sort out.

I've bought 2 of these Baumr-ag saws in the last month, the sx75 above, which had to be returned due to an over fuelling problem, and an SX92 which I bought whilst waiting for the 75 to be returned. A hint of quality control would go a long way here. The saws so far appear to be good value for the price - but both saws had appalling QC issues.

As mentioned above, the first saw wouldn’t start or run properly due to being over rich - carb adjustments didn't appear to help much. I tried to explain this to them, sent them a video demonstrating the problem as they requested and suggested they send me a new carb(prob <$15 cost to them). But instead they insisted I return it to them(at their cost) to be looked at by their 'technicians'. A few days later I received a message with a 'technicians report' saying they had replaced the pull start mechanism, tested it and asked if I was happy for the item to be sent back. I said yes but please confirm the saw actually starts and runs because the pull start mechanism wasn't the main issue I reported. Nearly 2 weeks later I then received another message with a video of a guy starting the saw. I suspect they just saw the broken starter handle and assumed that was the issue and didn't bother to try and run it? Anyhow I got it back this week, the starter mechanism is a different design to the original one - with the original sticker slapped on haphazardly as it doesn’t actually fit the design, I'm not complaining though coz it does look to be a sturdier design. Good news was the saw actually started and ran, but only just and horribly rich! I reset the mixture screws and gave it a tune and now its a little ripper! Looking forward to giving it a work out and hopefully it continues to run well.

Whilst this was going on I went and ordered the SX92, thinking the dramas with the first saw must have just been unlucky! Well it arrived and it was immediately obvious the box has been opened and resealed. I pulled it out and the saw plastics had gouges and scratches all over, the bottom of the saw had evidence of dirt marks - I suspect this was a demo or RMA? Oh well, as long as it runs I didnt care too much - well it started up and ran much to my relief, but then wouldn't switch off!! Faulty switch - I had to pull the spark plug lead to turn it off. By this stage I was starting to lose patience with them so messaged back explaining my disappointment with the condition of my 'new' saw and suggest they at least attempt to do some quality control on their products. Again they asked me to return it, to which I said get f*kd you already have the other saw I ordered. They then agreed to a partial refund and sent a new on/off switch.

Overall the saws do seem to be a good thing, if you can get past the painfully bad quality control, wooden customer service and are happy to fiddle with them a bit to get them running right. Customer service did respond reasonably quickly and keen to help but that doesnt get around the fact they were pretty much useless!

Hi Guys be kind to me i ma newbie... :) Well fyi the MTM SX82 from Edison is actually a 62cc saw....with a 24" bar hahahahha would not push a rat up a drainpipe...
Piston diameter 47.75mm stroke of 35.6mm. edisons were really good with the return and credit of the payment. Easy to deal with. The Baumr-ag 82sx is now on order to see what comes... $202 aus delivered...
let the mods begin....

Welcome to the site
In talking with the aussie facebook guy's
Those mtm 82cc are actually 65cc open port or some had 72cc when they took the saws apart.
I've got several of those clones
Fuel and pulse line's were my only real issue's.
Swapped them for quality line.
No problems.
Running a 28 on this one
With a big bore 52mm huztl cylinder.
Does good.20180829_102422.jpg

The baumr ag was the same way the supposedly 75cc 82cc and 92cc
Were all 65cc or 72cc lol
I was going to have some shipped here
Changed my mind
Just bought some from aliexpress last year.
Still like the baumag color scheme

Man, these sure sound like fun. Are these FT/Huztl or just the plant next door?

Yes that's the one. Did not like the air cleaner setup was a bit iffy. Needed a full carby adjustment to. Was going to moddit [52mm BB Kit] but was misfiring at the end of a cut -. So sent the whole lot back for a refund as it was NOT an 82cc saw. And how do they get away with that advertising then here in aus at those cc ratings. Could of upgraded the MTM it to the larger air cleaner but the BA comes already with it...

I don't know how they get away with it either.
Never noticed any company
Here in the us doing it.
Lying about displacement
I was giving huztl hell on their Facebook page.
They are selling fully built and assembled 365 clones now
but are calling them h372 like it's a 72cc
With the lowtop.
233.00 shipped us
Look exactly like my saw above.
Several of the aussie fb guy's are running
Baumr ags and modding them.
Cheap fun I've got around 260.00 us in each of mine.
Post pics if you get a baumr

If they have the 52mm piston then that would take the cc's up to 72... In the meantime I got a MTM 72SX for like $159 shipped here in aus to the post office as we are regional here. Was thinking that was like the 82SX and go BB kit boy was I wrong. It looks more like a 5occ saw as the throat in the carby is as big as my little finger. And looks a bit of a nightmare to get the barrel off.. Husky bars are very loose on it and they won't line up with the tensioner hole you would have to elongate it...slightly.. Maybe ill just try to kill it on some hard Jarrah here on the property... :) Hahah you have to search and find their codeword and get discount and free shippings….. and they come from Edison's too...on the shipping label..
