Why did Husqvarna change the carburetors from Walbro WJ-39 to a WJ-71 I ordered a kit for converting the 394XP to a 395XP but I do not have a carburetor for the saw yet and I want to know the difference between the two. The WJ-39 is hard to find and I got a quote of $150.00 for a carburetor but I don't know which one it is, The WJ-39 or the WJ-71. I would like to find a used one but haven't found one. I have been thinking about a aftermarket one but don't know what i would be getting into, if they are any good.

Wj70 is just a epa version of the wj39, cut the limiters and it's np. The Venturi size may be a tiny smaller on the 70 can't remember that for sure but booth run ported 394s very well.

After further investigation the quote for $150.00 was for a Walbro WJ-119 or the WJ-115 which are both 395xp carbs. He said that " the WJ-119 has a larger choke hole"'.
I found online at SLE Equipment has the WJ-119 New for $77.50 plus shipping and handling and says It is a genuine Walbro part, other dealers list them from $164.00 to $191.00 Why the big difference?
I would assume that the WJ-119 carb would be better than the WJ-115 because of the opening.

Be advised that the 395 carbs are not a bolt-and-go application for the 394. They can be made to work, but it takes some modification. You have to either convert the 395 carbs to internal pulse,
or set-up an external pulse rig on your 394. There's also some adjustment that has to be made in the throttle cables, as well as changing or sourcing the correct choke fulcrum.

I found a used Walbro WJ-39 carburetor, so with the 395 conversion kit, it comes with a carburetor rebuild kit and the pieces to change over to new 395 cylinder. I have to drill a 5/32" hole in the top cover of the carburetor and expoxy a fitting into it.
Will I still have to make any other changes ?

Old thread, but for the record the WJ115 is EPA compliant and the WJ119 is not EPA compliant.
I do not have any technical information.
