Husky 455 Rancher dies

The saw will crank good and run good for about 1 minute then will just quit running.
The L is set at 1.5 turns out and H is 1.25
What is the problem?

What do you use for gas/oil? How long do you let gas sit in the saw?

How old is the saw?

I dont make it to the wood before it dies
93 octane pure gas/husky oil 50:1 I had been running the saw previously, so fuel is fresh
around 7 years old

Start simple.
Clean air filter ? Clean fuel filter ? Clean spark arrestor screen ?
Will it sit and idle for several minutes ?
Had 2 of them over the years and were great firewood saws.

Is the spark plug dry when it is dead?

In addition to the two previous posts (Herbert and Marley), I will add:

It is generally a bad idea to buy parts before knowing what the problem is. But, if you have never replaced the fuel filter...I would do that now, and just call it "routine maintenance". And, a new spark plug now, would be a good idea.

I'd start with a carb kit and see what happens. If you can pressure test the fuel line, great. As mentioned it's time for a fuel filter

Started happening to my 350 a few years ago. Fuel line decayed in the gap between tank and the clamshell. Was sucking air.

I have a 445 which is two-times older than the saw in question...it has cut a lot of wood without anything more than one fuel filter...replaced just as maintenance.

My WAG is not fuel line or carb. Emphasis on "guess."

Found this on a 460 Rancher last summer. Right where it attaches to the carb. Restricted full flow to carb at wide open throttle.

Just makes a man want to cuss.

How much hassle do you want to put into this saw?
Sounds like a coil or as simple as an Air leak or as @Chevboy0167 pointed out, pinched line.
Cussing at saws is pretty common.

Pull the muffler and look at the piston before you throw any money at it.

You can likely just Google scored piston and get all kinds of photos of what you are looking for.

Well, it is a 4## Husqvarna and lets face facts- post #1 is pretty vague regarding information around exactly what happened.
Most every non running saw I see was running fine- before it wasn't.
The day before- you didn't get a bar pinch and had to wrench the saw free?
