Ok, I've got a new husky 385G and love it. Dennis didn't send an owners manual with the saw and I've only run huskys before, never owned one. If the owners manual is like most modern day products it sucks and doesn't say much but were to send it and safety warnings. I've been running the saw as much as possible and have been cutting dead or mostly dead wood for firewood-mainly oak and some mesquite so far. It's all very dirty, dusty stuff and the saw looks awful when I'm done cutting. I have been taking both side covers off, both top covers off and washing them real well. Clean the air filter, bar and sharpen chain. I plug the intake and exaust and wash the rest of the saw off in hot water. Dry ond re-grease/oil anything that might rust, -- the bar and some of the screws that hold it together. Anything else I should do? It seems that I read a post about greasing some bearings or something behind the clutch cover but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be great as i want to keep this saw running and looking as good as it does now.
Thanks, Paul

I don't own or operate any Husky saws (yet?), but their US website still has a link for the owners manual for the 357/359 on at least the 357 data page.  The link doesn't work any longer for some reason, but I've copied out the "Maintenance" pages and included them below.  I realize it's not the same saw, but they're pretty generic instructions.  The bit about adjusting the carb is actually pretty good, and I get a kick out of the "clean the air filter daily".

Sounds like you're going just a tad overboard with removing screwed-on covers and such.  Hopefully that will wear off before the threads in the crankcase do.

Anyway, here's the section of manual I mentioned earlier -- it should get you through until Dennis gets yours to you.

It sounds like you are taking care of the saw just fine. You can grease the bearings behind the clutch drum once a season if you like, since you are in very dusty conditions. I just grease mine when it is off to change sprockets, which isnt very often.

Change the plug yearly, change the fuel filter in the gas tank, change the air filter as necessary is about it.
When I put my saws up that I dont use in the winter, I pull the plug out, spray some fogger in and pull the engine over a couple times. I use the Husky oil with stabilizer already in it, and run the gas out of the carb before fogging.
