Thanks for that info Saw Troll. One of the big deciding factors in choosing Husky over other saws is dealer support. The shop is less than 10 min. from my house and they have always treated me well. When are the new Huskys expected out? I will probably wait. I think I'm gonna take a trip to my dealer today, with my S-65 in hand, and do some comparisons.

show's how much you know, there was no photo shop involved in the 358xp hoax. just a razor knife and old stickers.

Okay, you guys SUCK!!!! I went and read those threads and thought, " Cool, a light, powerful, midrange saw!" Not knowing any better, I went to my Husky dealer and asked about the new 358XP. He was like, "I haven't heard anything about it." So I was like, "well I'll just wait till 2006 and see if he has any more info." Then I get home and check out this thread! You guys SUCK!! So... chuck it up chuckle-heads, you got me!:buttkick:

I use a 346xp with a 15" bar for most stuff in the tree, it can have an 18" bar on it as well. Its light and nifty in the tree so its my choice over the 365 with the 20" bar, not that i ever need a bar that big.

As much as i like the 365 i'd rather the 372 in a tree because from experence the extra power the xp engine gives leaves much nicer cuts. Also its more rounded body means it don't get stuck as much.

Yeah, he didn't seem to know much about that one either. Hmmm!
It did look at a 357XP though. I picked it up and compared it to my Partner. It was lighter and more comfy. I liked the 357. Any thoughts?

it all depends on what you expect out of it. in stock form i would run it with a 16in bar, modded a 20 but thats it. you can get a 359 and have it modded for the same price as a 357 and they run pretty strong, but again a 20in bar is all i would run on it.

I was just looking at the Bailey's catalogue and they list the 385 as being able to run up to 42" bar. Can someone give me some advice on what is safe to run on this saw?
redbull, 42in bar bailey's referring to is for west coast woods, which are softer than the hardwoods you would get in missouri.

like KF said, 28in for 385. for hardwoods go with 24in for 372.

I've decided to run an 18" bar for the mid range saw that I get. I have a 20" on my Partner which is fine on the ground.

i guess an 18in bar on a 357 would be ok.........some guys run them with a 20in bar, but not me.

also , why not pick up a 24 or 28 in bar for the 385 and run it that way. when you need the longer bar you can just swap it over.
