Can someone interpret this serial number. I know the first two digits are the year of manufacturing but is the 1611 part of the serial number which would make it 2016, or is it just the stamped number which would make it 2004. Thanks, LP

Its a silver tag- they do not decipher like the black (post 1986) tags/
The saw is a Practica (Swedish for Rancher) made 1980-96 Model 61- so a whole lot closer to 1981 than 2016.

So the number does not indicate date of manufacture unless I can find a table of serial numbers by date

There was no rhyme no riddle (that I know of) on the silver tag models to give you the same data as the black tag models- I have no idea if you can match tag numbers to some online data base somewhere- but I doubt it.
Its old- its a 1980's saw, its likely got the old low white top- but basically they are the same saw/share parts with any of the white/grey/orange top 61's and 266/268 variants of the family.

According to a serial number reference I have, that's a late 1979 saw.
