I got a guide that sharpens and takes down the drags at the same time. No paperwork was recieved and need to know if I need to only use it occasionally or if I can use it every sharpening? I can get a really consistant tooth but don't want to take my drags down too much.

It just seems to take quite a bit off and makes the chain "grabby". It does cut agressively so I guess I can't complain.

i have a husky file guide (3/8) and use it with the raker file in at all times.the first few times it seemed to to be too agressive on the rakers but now it seems just right.i dont think you have to use the raker file though. p.s.bought a different brand file guide for a 353 (.325) it was WAY too agressive .on the rakers. saw could barely pull it in pine.hope this helps

the way it was explained to me was as you sharpen the tooth back the rails of the guide go back and lower which acts as the depth gauge for the raker .i've been through about 5 chains with my guide and i love it
