I may catch hello for this thread but you guys should hear this.
I really need another saw like I need more gray hair. Anyway, I walked into my local pawn shop and was nosing about. Several others were doing the same thing.Well to get to the punch line, a man picked up a Johnnyred and took it over to the counter. He asked the salesman "what can you tell me about this saw"?Well being about to have a great knowledgeable man give me some pointers , my ears perked up.This is one of the best saws that have ever been made. The toughest saw on the market, hands down. I had to chime in! What about a Stihl! Better than any Stihl was his well educated reply.I had to laugh because sitting on the floor not 10 feet away was a Poulan.I think the Jred was a 2056 if not mistaken. any way he wants $200 for it. Had an 18 bc.Now I hate to shoot a man down and make him look like a fool but I would like some more ammunition for when I go back and set him straight.I plan to ask, who makes Husky? Who makes Poulan? Who makes Jreds?I am aware that the Ellectrux corporation is manufacture.Any thoughts? ken

What's the point? He made a subjective statement. You might as well argue about whose defecation smells worse. :rockn:

Rex,
The point it that he has very little knowledge as to what he is talking about.I do not blame him for wanting to make a sale, but he should have his facts straight. Good to hear you chime in! Ken

What is the question??

Jonsered makes really great saws.
Are they the best?

That is something that is argued here daily.
Jonsered v. Husky v. Stihl, etc.
The thing is, much of the answer comes from opinion, usage, conditions the saw will be used in, and the user themselves.

Trying to "set someone straight" about what is the best, is going to be a very frustrating endeavour.

Sounds like he went to Thall's chainsaw sales school.

Heres what you do I'm sure he has a Stihl lying around that pawn shop.
Most of them do.
Any way pick that saw up and ask him what he thinks about that saw.

Seems you already know about the elux dynasty

hahahahhahahaha!!!!!!! If I need a stihl at least I know there must be an ace hardware around here somewhere. hahaha!

So what???? If he told the guy the poulan was the best saw ever made then maybe. Jonsered's are great saws and so are Huskies and Stihls. Same old Ford/Chevy BS from high school.

Your right, I don't even Know why people go all out to race them.
Guess we will never grow up.

You were shopping at a pawn shop. The fact that the employees knew which end of the saw to hold and which to cut with, that's a step up from most pawn shop folks I've come across.

Subjective opinions are just that. The really stupid thing, and I think this is what you're picking up on, is the absolute, affirmative proclimation that something is the BEST by such a clear and convincing margin as to render further discussion of the relative merits of other products irrelevant. This kind of attitude is the sign of someone who is either ignorant or a liar, in my experience.

Concise and on point.

I love it when he uses that Lawyer Talk.

Next question is,
Does he service his saws ? You may as well go to Lowes or Ace for that matter. LOL

.......

........except that they don't make any saws at all, any more - Husky makes them (except the two cheapest ones, that are made by Poulan).

There never were a 2056 btw, so better sheck that model number again.....;)

Of course, if you follow that logic to the bitter end, there are also no Volvos, because those are made in Ford factories, there are no Saabs, because GM makes those, there are no Bentleys, because Volkswagen makes them, there are no Chevrolets, because GM makes them, there are no Ferarris, because Fiat makes them, there are no Lexuses (Lexi?), because those are made in Toyota factories... :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

Thank's for clearing that up it is true! I would rep ya but outa bullets!

Different sales policy....

Jonsered is manufactured in the same plant as Husqvarna but they don't allow sales to mass merchandisers or box stores like Husqvarna.
