My new Husqvarana 445 seems really cold blooded, any tips I can do to change this? (by cold blooded I mean it doesn't want to start right up but once its going its going :greenchainsaw: )

Keep it in the house the night before you're going to cut wood. Or on your way, if there is a drive involved, put it on the floor board of the truck and put the heat set for the floor.

Cold blooded in temps under freezing is a common thing with two-stroke motors.

Are you running reg Gas, or stepping up to the high octane stuff?

It might sound goofy, but I have had several 2-cycle impliments that start and run better in winter on Reg Gas, and choke a bit on 92 octane fuel untill fully warmed.

Setting the carb a bit richer also seems to help offset the denser cold air in some.

+1 on pre-warming the saw in the truck.

I set mine next to the stove in the barn while I have Coffee and set up the tractor, fire it off and let it run for a min. before heading out.

There's nothing like bieng cold, snot running, and then the Saw wants to take the morning off.

Stay safe!

Reg. gas and its stored in the heated garage (gargage is set around 50F)...

I was reading up on this and read that they are all cold blooded? Always around 3 pulls to go?

Three pulls?

That ain't bad.

It's the 8-20 pulls that gets me to cussing.;)

Maybe one of the guys over on the Chainsaw page will have you a better answer.

Three pulls....?????

God I wish life was that tough...

Maybe an electric saw is the answer....

All of the strato saws require a little change in technique when starting. They usually do fire right up, but by "cold blooded", I'm sure you mean they need more warm up time before they will accelerate when you pull the trigger.

First give it a good 6 pumps on the primer. Then after it starts, let it run in the high idle position for about 10 seconds before hitting the trigger. This will help with warm up.

The carb settings ahould also be richened up when the saw is set up by the dealer. It requires a special tool, which every dealer should have, but this really ought to be done before sending it out.
