I prefer to change out the piston. Its fairly inexpensive, the saw gets more power, a fresh ring and you can set the squish.
I have always used Meteor 262 pistons but Im awaiting a 262 Mako piston just to see if they are ok.
These are my favorite saws. I have 3 runners and two more in boxes waiting...... I also have 2 036's waiting for parts that will get flipped.
I sold an average rebuilt 262 for $350 locally on C/L. It went to a tree service guy and he has never called me with ny issues
