Are these still available new somewhere? Or do you have to find a used top cover and then buy a new HD filter from places like Baily's or somewhere else?

Is the top cover for a 281 the same as a 288? Aren't the 281 and 288 the same saw except for the difference in the bore?

Thanks,
Roger

I am looking for the Hi Top version because if a lot of continuos sawing. I am not sure about the one in Madsen's either.

I don't think you can get them any more, but Eliminator made a blue high top with HD air filter for them.

I was lucky and mine already came with one. I'm sorry if it doesn't help much.

The Eliminator system was a real good system for those older Huskies. I wish they still made those products.

Myself and a buddy just ordered the high top filter/top cover conversion kits from Patano Power Equipment. He just ordered his in the last 2 weeks. They may still have them, or you can check with Spike60 - he is a sponsor and may have the kits in stock.

I have one of these saved in the "cart" of some parts store. The only thing is don't like about my 288 (other than the fact it exposes my sissy boy-ness) is that ugly-ass little air filter. It may be the best filtration system in the universe, but I hate how they look. I will pull the trigger on one now that Terry has helped my 175lbs of skin, fat and bone be able to better utilize the little beastie
