Husqvarna 288XP - Snellerized Style

Surprisingly, this is the first 288XP I have ever ported. I work almost exclusively on new saws (or almost new), so just haven't ever had the chance. This particular saw is the beauty that I had in my collection for several years. Last fall I sold it to @Edwad and just now got around to porting it. Yes, he knew there was going to be a wait Maybe he didn't know it would be this long, lol. Anyway, here it is on it's first time out. The L tuning is a little funky, so I have a new carb on order. The H tunes fine, so I went ahead with the video.

Nice looking saw! I have a 254xp that I just gave a complete overhaul. Its nowhere near the condition of that.

Very sharp looking strong running saw.

Just rebuilt one that had been sitting for 10+ years. These 288xp's are true classics.

I'm going to give the flywheel a few degrees of timing advance when I install the new carb. That should wake it up a little more. You definitely want to use the decomp on this saw!

A new carb was a no-brainer at $35 shipped. That's only about $20 more than a carb kit, with no guarantees it would fix it.

Nothing special here. It's just a typical dual port cylinder with bigger holes than stock

Cylinders are easily replaceable. Nothing radical or ridiculous was done to this one. It's everything it was stock...and more.
