Kind of a redemption as I couldn't run it in the mini gtg with bob because it wouldn't oil. SO rummaged around the parts pile and have a good nos oil line. Put that in....and ran it for a bit in this one

The 298 was the predecessor to the 2100. It had starter issues due to the small diameter of the recoil pulley making it a beech to start. That was corrected on the 2100.

It was only made for 1 year, 86-87 , Husky tried to lighten up saw with lighter flywheel and plastic two pawl starter and dump the manual oiler , it was meant to be predecessor to the 2100 , but many thought differently including me ,

Wasn't the 1100 the predecessor to the 2100, followed by the 2101? The 298 was an economy model, in a manner of speaking.

OK, lightweight. I only own 2100s and a 2101. Almost no difference between those 2. I am sure the 298 was sold at a slightly lower price point due to the omission of the manual oiler and the plastic recoil.
