Does a 394xp require a bigger dumpster?

This project is driving me a little crazy! Replaced the flywheel, coil, ordered a clutch cover, and today I rebuilt the OEM carb. About 4 times! each time I put fuel in the tank, I see fuel bubbling up though the little holes in the top of the carb. Its almost a gusher.Ive checked the metering needle multiple time to make sure its properly in the fork. The kit came with 2 needles, and I'm using the big needle, not the small. Is that correct? Ive tried to pressure test it but my Mighty vac seems to be on strike. Bah, humbug......

You shouldn't have any fuel on that side of the metering diaphragm. Something has a hole in it, or wrong gasket/ diaphragm.

Yes, it's leaking around a gasket/diaphragm. Should be no fuel around the screw holes at all, those are blind threads into the carb body.

just to clarify, fuel was NOT leaking from the screws, but from one or both of those 2 small holes in the cover. Gushing

Those are vent hole to let atmospheric pressure in, there should not be any fuel on that side of the metering diaphragm. Look closely at the diaphragms and gaskets in the kit compared with what came off the carburetor. I'm guessing you will find a hole in the replacement parts that was not found on the original.

Many kits service several carbs. Make the kit parts used match what was removed. Then------>

Or they are not oriented properly/in correct order.

Picture shows bubbles/fuel puddles around the screws. Not much going on at vent holes
