i'm not sure if this justifies another thread, but i'm looking at getting a Husqvarna 350, i'll be using it to cut firewood daily. i understand that this model has a single piston ring, but i don't know how that will affect longevity of the saw, make it prone to compression loss after i have it for a while, etc. i read on here doing a search, that this has more torque, and lower top speed, than say the 346xp, but a little more displacement. with the Poulan s25da i have, i did tend to bog it down when cutting, which makes me want the torque more. as far as rings, is one ring the standard for Husqvarnas, or just the non xp models? also, i read it has a plastic crankcase, does that cause issues when the saw is hot? i know a couple of you have this model, does it have any quirks or propblems specific to it?

The single ring argument has been hashed out here over and over. What it boils down to is this, a single ring engine will break in and wear out a bit faster than a dual ring saw. The trade off in longevity is that less power is lost to friction. The power difference is not huge nor is the longevity. For the casual user ( I am in this group) the difference in longevity may never be realized. I have 30 year old saws with single rings that are still in perfectly serviceable condition and do still get used. Bottom line: don't let the number of rings scare you away from a saw that would otherwise fit your needs.

I agree with SedanMan, single ring isn`t a big deal. Many pro saws have had single rings and servicability was just fine.

Not sure, but I think Ed said the Partner 5000 piston will fit the 350. Does anyone know if the 5000 is a single or double ring?
I think Ricky mite know too, but may not want to give away any secrets. LOL
John

boy you got this one all screwed up, Gypo,
a 350 and a partner 5000 are 2 toldy different saws

and neither one of them look like the ones in his picture

Glens he is just showing you the kind of trees he cuts into firewood, low grade firewood at that, $25 per cord I think he sells it for

The one on the left looks like the piece that took out his KD365.  It should be chainsaw-carved into a great white.

I liked it better when I just had ADD.
Now everybody just feels sorry for me and won't beat up on me like they use to.
So now I'm feeling left out.
Anyway, I completely missed the 3 on that 350 and thought it was a new series Husky 50.
Ed, the logs above were the cream of the crop, below is the firewood.
John

If it hadn't of been for the small mineral deposit just right of the heart centre, then this log may have made pallet grade.
The nice thing about the butt log, is that is where the best firewood is.
It's easy to split and it adds up quick as well.
John

they just love you to much and why wouldn't they, you are the man

I will take as many cords of firewood like those logs as you can get, and I will be a real nice guy and pay you even more than the $25 a cord, now the deal evens get better, you can leave the logs just the way they are ,I can sell them to other guys that will buy it in log form to for a little more green gold

so what are you to do with all this money you are making? Take a trip down south to a warm place ?

and wash your truck and when was the last time you waxed your skidder

Hello Ed, is that price FOB Eagle Lake? If so, we got a deal. However the wood is checking nicely and should save you on splitting time.
John

that hurt, get some of those S's from Scott and drive them in if they are going to keep checking on you, that would make most guys cry,

What are you going to do with all that money? So what are you going to buy me for xmas sense you are rich, you bought yourself a new Dodge so a new GMC for me would be fine,
nice looging logs there but i will still buy them for $50 a bush cord in log lenght

I thought you were going to take it easy for a while John. Looks like you've been hard at it.
Nice looking logs!

Hi Ed, I spent all the $ on whiskey and women. The rest I just wasted.
Mange, what picture was that?
Glad you like the picture Tony, I took it easy on this woodlot- doctors orders and worked bankers hours 10- 2.
Hope the log truck can make it in this week.
John
