Hello, i just joined this site, cause it seems like theres alot of help to get here.

Got a Husqvarna 359 from 2010(Zama C3-EL42 carb) that dosnt run probberly anymore, after i had it stored for 4 months. Only cut aboute 40 trees with it in total. Before it got stored, i drained the chainoil and petrol tank.

The symptoms.
It idle rough, going up and down in rev. Some times even die if i dont hit the throttle.
Also has a very unpersistant rev at max throttle, going up and down in speed.
When i try to cut wood with it, it begins to choke, and eventuly die out if i dont take it out of the wood.
Hard to start when it dies.

So far i read alot about others problems with the 359. Such as the Welbro carb problems, manifold with plastic clip, or leaking air in at the manifold.
My saw is with a Zama C3 carb, and also got a metal clamp on the intake manifold.
So fare i triede the following things;
Change the fuel lines
Cleaned the fuel tank and filter
Replace sparkplug, and set the gap to 0,5 mm as said in the manual
Cleaned the airfilter
Cleaned the exhaust
Triede using both pre-mixed aspen 2t petrol, and unleaded 98 oct with 2% husqvarna xp oil in
Taken the cylinder apart to check it and the piston for damage or cracks, didnt find any

Anyone knows what this might be? I dont have a compression tester, but can that be an issue if it runs?
The current fix im looking at is changing the carb, but that will cost me about 95$ USD here in denmark. So any other cheaper solution will be greatly appriciated.

Welcome to AS. I can;t help you but rest assured you will get tons of assistance here and get to the bottom of it. Good luck! Russ

The metering diaphragm in the carb has become stiff and needs to be replaced.

Thanks all for the quick replies.

Wont i need a new gasket set for the carburator if i take it apart?

You won't necessarily need to replace the gaskets if you take it apart to clean it. Just use a razor to carefully lift the gasket from the carb body. If cleaning it doesn't work, then yes, you will need a carb kit (gasket set).

View attachment 247829 Perhaps you broke one of the plastic impulse tubes, either on the partition end or carb mounting flange end. Or, the impulse signal is blocked somewhere.

I think the problem is in the carb bc he seems to indicate it was running ok bf he put it away for a few months.

My guess is that he didn't get all of the fuel out of the carb and it has gummed up the passages, though the guess about the diaphragm gasket getting stiff also makes sense.

Yes, I don't argue the gum, but I kind of doubt the diaphragm is stiff. However, he has pulled the cylinder and changed the intake clamp. I've have two of those intake partitions with the plastic impulse line snapped off. One was a basket case saw and other should have been.

Probably wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter verses cleaning it.

Is your saw a 359 e-tech model? Your saw will have a catalytic muffler if it is that model. If you saw has a green colored gas cap that is another clue your saw is an Etech model. Remove the muffler and visually check the condition of your piston. If there is scoring on the exhaust side of the piston or scoring on the rear of the cylinder wall you need to rebuild your saw. I hope that is not your problem.

Its not an e-tech, but thanks for letting me know.

Problem solved!!

First of all i would like to thank all that came with input to my problem.

Ordered a rebuild kit RB-163, and changede all the pieces that was in the kit except the welch plugs, where it seems i need a special tool.
Got too later yesterday to test it, but i ran the saw today, and it runs perfect now!!

Thanks all for the great help, i will diffently come back here when i need help with my saw again.
