Just when you think you have seen it all!
Just rebuilding a 550xp and noticed these three holes, two look like casting faults and the big one, continues right through to the cylinder external spring mount threaded hole (on the wrap handle)
I have to say, the saw ran perfectly fine before dismantling (to replace broken crankcase lug) and it also shows no sign of ever being taken apart before, surely this is not a manufacturing fault from new? I have experience with saws that have come in for repair that have been fitted with too long a bolt and it bulging the cylinder wall and thus jamming the piston ie a Stihl ms362 intake stub bolt!! (it took me a while to work that one out!) But this hole looks so clean and tidy I would swear Its been machined!
What do you guys think ?
