Husqvarna Chain Brake on While Changing Chain

Most likely the second type.
He took it off, then couldn't figure out how to release the brake? Yes?

With that type, apply pressure to force the 3-pronged "star" that engages the brake handle, in the same direction that the handle would move it when disengaging the brake. This will release the brake mechanism.

Taking your side cover off with your chain brake engaged is like forgetting your wedding anniversary...... You only ever do it once. And I should know because ive done both!

My father has done this so many times that I made him a tool out of a scrench that fits the star and allows him to quickly release the brake.

This Husky chain brake thing has me curious. Next time I get my hands on one I am going to pull that clutch cover off and see what everybody is having trouble with. I'm a stihl guy for the most part. But....I will have to say that I did own a Husky 350 for a short time and it was a real good runner. Also, my brother has a 385XP that was worked on by a guy named Randy who lives in Tennessee (MMWS). That is, hands down, the most powerful and awesome running saw I have ever had the pleasure to cut with!!!

He's 78 and a little less steady on his feet than he used to be. It took me forever to get him to wear some PPE and set the brake before he moved with the saw. I'm not going to start messing up my good work now.

I have come across many parts 350 side covers where that spring was just removed completely because people are a little too impatient to fix it right.
