Hey guys is anyone making or has made the brake bands for the 162 266 268 old style?

I've welded 1 and should be ok but be cool if someone was building them.

If not is it something I should look into?

Never seen an aftermarket version of those brake bands. They pop up from time to time on eBay.

OK . I have heard ages back someone made a batch but the rest escapes me.

Gems absolute gems.
The 266 is noticeably stronger than the 162 but at the same time man that 162 goes good too.

Now to get the 268 crank seals sorted and add another

First 61 I’ve worked on, seems pretty repair friendly so far lol! Anyways, is the oil seal supposed to come with the oiler when you take it off? My instinct says no but it’s my first older husky I’ve worked on. Whatcha guys think?

Yes the clutch side crank seal is pressed into the oil pump not in the case. If your replacing the crank seals also replace the o-rings. There’s one on the oil pump and seal carrier on the flywheel side.

Will the bearing seal the case then for a vacuum/pressure test? Or do I need to put the oiler back on and spray soapy water around that to test?

Question regarding the husqvarna 61 and 61 rancher if both have the same size bore and stroke then why is both a different hp.

Bump. Are they different hp? All I know is what I see on acresinternet. I was wondering why 61 and 61 Rancher are listed separate. Is there any difference other than cosmetics?

I believe there is variation with the cylinder & piston... open/closed port, windowed/non windowed

Not that I need another project but I got a local craiglist hit for a Husqvarna 61. Asking $150.

Per the posting:
"Top cover has small crack and chip and the saw needs typical front rubber suspension bushings replaced."

Fair price or should I offer less?

As an aside, I've read that it can be converted to a 272XP, how costly and how much work is involved?

Thats a decent price, cost of conversion is limited by your imagination.

Having some trouble with a 272xp, is there a piece that goes between the flywheel and the case similar to the one pictured I pulled off a 61 I had laying around? The flywheel is rubbing on the seal and the key sheared off when I went to pull it. Any help would be appreciated
