I just finished changing the hydrualic oil and filter on my log splitter. Does anyone know if I need to bleed air out of the system or re-prime the pump or anything like that or can I just fire it up and go?

AS long as your fluid levels above your intake on your pump you should be good to go. If you want to you could pull your plug wire and give it a few pulls to get a little in the pump. Then get to splitting.:givebeer:

like he said.

but make sure you cycle it back and forth without load to purge any remainiing air. Air doesn't hurt unless it is compressed, then suddenly released into the return line. The air expands and pushes a surge of oil that can overload the filter and lines. Was an earlier thread on that. Once the air is out, the flow is only that provided by the pump.

extend and stop a couple inches short of full stroke. Ratract and stop short of full stroke. repeat a few times and should be good.
