I may want to marry her...but I'm not messing with her :D

(Edit: You can skip to 3:10 t0 see the part I'm talking about...)

Seriously...I don't think I've seen or ever conceived of taking an ax stuck in log and just flipping it and the log over to finish the job o_O I know that's not oak, but that still takes a fair bit of strength!

25 or so years ago I sold wood out of my landing to a guy and his girlfriend. She was about 5 ft tall and 110lbs with a rock in her pocket. He would cut and she would split with a maul. It was dead black and white oak and her feet would come off the ground every time the maul struck. And she didn't slow down. They delivered 2 cords most days and she split more than he did. I was always a little scared of her.

Guys, you never seen it before? I mean to turn the axe? I guess the trick never crossed the ocean, haha. I learned to split wood like that when I was 8.

To elaborate more:

- with the axe you aim for the very center of the wood.
- you dont have to hit it very hard, just enough for the axe to stay in
- now you lift it above your head and smack it on the bottom wood axe head first
- if it does not split first time, try again

I was thinking the same thing, I hate hand splitting with a PASSION but when I get stuck doing it the "flipped axe" thing happens all the time.

I always attributed it to being too weak to generate enough ass to get the bit through the wood.
