I copped a nice gas drill for $250.

I had work lined up for it ahead of time, and I'm already making money with it. I need to do the same thing about getting an air knife or an air spade.

Great, now all you need is a funnel and a bucket of grey matter, and somebody who'll drill a hole in your head.

Any volunteers?

Gotta love the new stock pic in place of your used actual pic.

What? The thing I bought looks exactly like that - a fine deal to brag online about. :spam: Especially to H.O.s.

Never copped a drill before...Dope, but never a drill. Get it from the bay? or did you find one somewhere? I'm confused though, what are you going to do with it??

God Bless,

Jeff

ain't supposed to be no homeowners on here, hoss..................looks like a cheap drill to me, what is it?

And what are you doing, cabling with it? how does it pull bits thru the wood?

Hoss!! OMG!! That was hilarious! Rep to ya. Good one, I use that all the time, never thought to type it.

God Bless,

Jeff

its a tanaka. its a good drill. I have one, bought it new a few years ago for 550. you got a good deal. It pulls good. i've done a bit of bracing with mine. its powerful. I've broke bits off in trees, she will pull! I bought that one because its what a lineman buddy of mine has on all his trucks. comes in real handy on the farm...drilling holes in fences for gates, mixing concrete, ect....

Look, Fta, I was actually trying to give you some good advise. Let me try again.
PUT THE FREAKING DRILL BIT DOWN AND STEP AWAY FROM THE TREE!

But I guess life is a learning experiance so go ahead with yourself, don't let me stop ya.

My guess is he's making swiss cheese out of tree trunks, and charging the tree's owners for his "service":monkey:.

All about FTA's swiss cheese plan...

Oh I read that, I just kinda figured the point had been made there were better/cheaper/more healthy/easier ways. Not to mention, that is the precise reason I'm not a bridge builder. I could talk it up, and get the gig, sure, no problem. Where to go from there, I have no clue. It's why I don't advertise my bridge building skills, or lack-there-of.

God bless,

Jeff

Nothing is going to happen if you drill into a few trees with a 1/4" bit, and fill them in with wax. It's common sense. People put bolts through trees all the time. :greenchainsaw:

FTA, you're nuttin but a hound dog in your persistent pursuit of hackery.

You've been told by REAL ARBORISTS (some from your area) that your plan has "FAIL" written all over it.

Your little wax gob will do nothing to prevent decay, the pathogens will populate as soon as you break the cambium.

Now, if you were qualified to analyze the drilled material and perform a real strength loss calculation based on facts, the infection courts you create might be worth it. (But if you were qualified, you wouldn't be using a drill and a hunch.)

You comment that drilling 1/4" holes through trees will cause "nothing" to happen eloquently illustrates for us once again that common sense really isn't that common after all.

Luckily for FTA, as long as his victims are dumber than he is, he will keep extorting money from them.

Karma would be him being treated by a dentist with the same level of knowledge he has, they could both find common ground as they would use the same type of drill

I remember reading about burning people alive in the old days. It was common sence, they were witches! But then some people got educated and enlightened and stop doing such bestial acts. But some chose to stay unenlightened and carry on with their actions as before, as it was all common sence...

Oh. When the wood comes out, and it is not rotten, then the tree can stay. When the wood comes out, and it is nothing but rot, then the tree is dropped. I would rather use the sonic devices, but my credit with you is limited right now, so I can't just get one.

People used to use drills before there were sonic devices. They had luck with them, and I haven't heard of any horror stories about detriment due to boring. Does even one pro or semi-pro here have any evidence or hearsay about whether or not boring 1/4" holes are the cause of failures in the trees?

Seems to me you should spend your money on educating youself and getting a cert, rather than experimenting on trees.
Jeff
What do you think I'm doing? You're not the brightest one in the area, are you? You must really have this thing upside down don't you? You see, I'm the smart man, and you are just some kind of tree huger. While you are nipping at my heals, I'm all over this thing like you can't imagine. It's what I do day in and day out. I eat and breath saw dust. Then I go around estimating jobs looking like it. The biz is spot on this: don't damage property i.e. trees, women, and children. Everything else is in their heads. If they say they like how the job looks, then I take their word for it. It's in their heads, and the money falls in my hands. I'm not here to suck off trees because I "feel sorry for the H.O.s." I'm in it to make the most money by making the most out of myself number one. Yep, this includes making certs and etc, but I sure would be a ********** to take this machine i.e. myself :chainsaw: to another company just to give him :spam: 3/4 of what I'm worth, now wouldn't I? I'd never be able to pay for those certs nor all of the equipment I've already got a good start on. I'm all biz and not just a guy that is out there to rub some tree. Maybe some day I can hire the Jeffs to rub trees for me while I take the big percentage of what those guys are really worth to an owner, but there again.... I'm not interested in actual tree rubbing. Are things transparent enough for you now, Jeff? I bet I had you worried I'd be taking down some palm trees here and there for instance like stuff you'll never see from that office chair!

PS
:)
