I do not like Ash

I'm not a big fan of climbing Ash trees, but generaly trust them if they are alive. The limbs tend to be weak, wanna split, and squeeze your foot if standing in a crotch for long periods, but they cut easy, easy to break off branches with your pruner pole if doing line clearance, and easy to drag and feed into the chippers. They rank in about the middle of trees I like and dislike.

I was splitting firewood. Took a break and leaned my maul against an ash tree. Forgot to put my glasses back on when I came back. I went to the tree and could find the maul. I went back and got my glasses and realized I had been searching around a telephone pole. Without my glasses, I couldn't tell my ash from a pole in the ground.

You win. That's the funniest one I've heard.

haha,i haven't heard this one.good one!

iv never been concerned with climbing ash.though the limbs can be brittle when dead/dormant the overall structure is very sound in a live ash.dead ones though sure, they get dusty.better have the goggles on or your eyes are going to get it.but i really enjoying pruning a nice specimen.they are an overall joyous climb imho.
the wood's the best for firewood.use this stuff when you need to heat the house in a hurry.no good over night though as it doesn't leave much clinkers.
tosses out major btu's in a hurry even green.
one of natures better tree's i think.great looking leafs and overall a nice growing tree.the wood becomes super hard when dried yet lighter than oak.
