Yeah Buck, mine did that too and I had to cut away some material off of the ears so it wouldnt get hung up on the edge of the cyl any more.

Thats about what i'm talkin about i guess. If my elm is good and dry,i dont have to let the wedge go in too deep and the stops are good for a 'marker'. Now.....if they arent dry enough...............ah nothing. lolWith my homemade barebones splitter I just eyeball the length of what the round is and stop the cylinder accordingly.
