You would think as a non "poser", glen, you would be in a pair of redwings. :)

Not sure how to take that. Redwing boots are comfy for those that walk about the shop, but I have found that they wear out quickly when performing work, especially the insoles.

I used American CHipewaa's for my first year, then was turned onto Red Wing Loggers...I wanna say the number is 1920 model numbers...I love em, unfortunetly I only get a year out the boots, even with insoles, and they are hard to break in, but they are awesome, out do Chips bigtime....I would love Wesco's, but can't afford the price....My company pays for half my boots so I just keep going Red Wings, so I only pay $90 bucks, company would prob not reimberse $350 wescos. THey last like 5 years till you gott rebuild em, and they rebuild everythin, so it comes back like a new boot. Also some guys at work wear hiking boots which I am totally down on, my last red wings, i put the saw in the bucket scabbard and the chain raced and tore up the toe, thought i hit the chain break, plus in trees sometimes bringin the saw close to where I am standing i knick the toe, and no probs cuz the steal. Call it in-experience, but I use em for that reason, awkward cuts are a daily thing in this industy, so, I am down on hiking boots, and all about steal toe....

Yeah, Steel toe, def goes way farther than hiking boots, which becomes a weird issue....Hard core arborists say logger boots are bad on the bark and shouldn't be worn in the tree, you should wear hiking boots. Osha says steel toe work boots...SO which do you do. I totally stick with steel toe. Yeah my feet hurt at the end of the day and its extra weight I notice, but like I said before a racing saw against the toe did nothin, hiking boots woulda had a different outcome. I don't mind the Red Wing steel toes, I wear em for work and when I ride my Harley I wear em to. So in my opinion wear em....
