Lurking for about the last year, thought I may be able to post some...useful??? info.

:newbie:

About a month ago I became a proud owner of a PS7300, :rockn: I have about 7 tanks of fuel through her so far, saw starts to come alive after about the 5th tank of fuel.

An example of fuel consumption for my saw, jetted a little fat, for break in. I can fell and buck (into 20" long fire sticks) a 16" diameter 50ft. tall beech tree on one tank, saw ran out 3/4 of the way through the last cut. I did limb the tree using a Husky 136. The saw is setup using an 8tooth sprocket, 20" Windsor bar and LGX chain.

A little bit more info, don't know how accurate it is, but the Dolmar manual lists the PS7900 as having slightly (and I mean slightly) less fuel burn than a 7300.

Hope this helps :biggrinbounce2:

Fuel consumption

I have a 7300 and Grandpa tractor has a 7900. In our manuals it states that the 7300 uses a little MORE fuel than the 7900. I'll have to grab the specs when I get time for ya. I only got the 7300 because That FREAKIN dolmar dealer Boyd gave my a great deal on a demo saw not to mention I used my semi truck to pick it up because of all the free stuff that came with it!!!!:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

I was just curious how a larger motor can burn less fuel... seems to be against the constraints of physics

Matter, not really. When I have the money well put away, Ill get what my little heart truely desires.

Did you really say you were concerend about fuel economy with a saw? You must drive a Jetta...LOL

You ain't runnin' a big old saw from BITD... the newer "big" saws are right smart on fuel... I know gas prices are high... but unless you are a timber faller/logger runnin' the saw everyday for 8-12 hours... fuel is a non-issue.

That 7900 will burn less fuel than my 044.

Fuel consumption @ max load kg/h 6400(1.72) 7300(2.33) 7900(2.3) Specific consumption @ max load g/kWh 6400(500) 7300(510) 7900(505) this is all foreign language to me, its just what my owners manual says. The difference in fuel consumption probably shouldn't't be a factor in your decision in these two chainsaws:chainsawguy:

Thanks for everyones input in this thread.

I tend to agree, more power is never bad... and always fun.

I just sold my dirt bike, so I have more than enough cash sitting on my table. GRAH I WANT:chainsawguy:

Better judgement says to put it in the bank...

Im not sure a CVK carb and a one lung thumper would make the best saw...

Might have the torque to pull a big dang bar tho!

..but probably no race saw.
