Any one have experence with the ignition on a Jred 630 West Coast? Problem is no spark getting to the plug. This model has two parts that could be the problem. One is a electronic unit and the other is the coil. Is their a way to test them? At a hundred bucks for a new electronic unit I would like to make sure thats the problem. Looks like parts for these older saws are a premium if you can even find them! Thanks in advance for any help, advice or tips.

Usually at 99 %,its always the big unit .Did you check with the switch disconnected.Check also the terminal on wire, sometimes the wires is broken inside the plastic and you dont "see"it.You can use a unit from used 630,670,162,266,268 on it,they are the same.

Information on Jonsered 630, 670

Thanks HiOctane for the info on the 19th about the 630. After doing a little more research on the 630 and 670 Jonsereds I found out their is a difference in the models designated as West Coasts. The difference is in the Ignitions and the cases for mounting the coils and the Electronic modules. The information from HiOctane is right on except if you have the West Coasts. Just thought I would pass this along in case any one else had the same problem finding parts for certain models of Jonsereds 630 and 670. Most of this information was found in the IPLs on Rod Simonian's web site and The Chain Saw Collectors Corner. I still don't know for sure why the West Coast designation, but would bet it was for emission standards so the could sell them in California! If any one knows, please post a reply.

The West coast one got only one module ?

The 630 I have has the electronic module and a coil. They are seperate units.

Unless I've completely missed something, both the 630 & the 670 that I've recently took apart had the module & the coil. Of course I could be wrong........

Aw ra best!~~~Chris J.
