I had new rear springs made for my 08 f-350 by Alcan spring in Colorado. Rides not much stiffer than stock but carries considerably more than stock.

I am in no way associated with Alcan spring other than being a satisfied customer. Mods, delete as needed if this violates any rules.

I'll tell you what it is...good information. I'm taking my ford ranger to the spring shop. Bad ass.

good info yes.. I'm having my f-600 done.. But a ranger? The truck will break in half before the springs give...

You won't need to regear with that 7.3 diesel, plenty of engine to pull your chipper and whatever you put in the back. Like the other guys said, talk to a spring shop, my buddy got a quote on beefing up his F250 springs for $1200. Even if doing yours costs double that you're well ahead of the sticker price on that 550. Take that money and buy a bucket. That bucket will make you a #### ton more money, way quicker than that 550. For the record, I didn't put much credit in buckets till I bought my own. In hindsight, running a tree service without one is pretty dumb. It's one thing to run what you brung when starting out, or keep yourself small because you want to, but if you want to compete on a bigger scale ( which it sounds like you do ) , you need a bucket.

What you stated is exactly what I was thinking. A bucket will make me much more money per hour and land me more work, plus I get to work much safer around electricity hazards. I new I needed new springs, but I was thinking maybe more. I guess not. Thanks for the input everyone. I'll post some pics of the bucket when I get it later in the year with some pics of the lil 350. Cheers.
