I hope that this is the right forum for my question. I recently purchased a Stihl 044. The footbed part of the handle is cracked. I want to secure it so it doesn’t get any worse. Is there a preferred method of addressing this problem? Epoxy? Would love some ideas.

Plastic weld.
Looks ugly...still learning :p. But, is as strong as new. Finish file and sand it all smooth after blending in filler plastic (I only have a donor Shindaiwa tank)

I had a similar rear handle crack on one of my 044 and ms 460 and tried a CA glue with graphite powder and baking soda bond layered. then athletic tape [I wrap my rear handles on all my sawks in that area regardless if cracked, as it gives me more control of the saw with better fit in my hand]. They are still holding up nicely 2 years later. Creating as much surface area [rough sanding] for it to bond to works best. If you want to speed up the bond, spray ISO alcohol 99 to accelerate the curing. Good luck
