$150 cash? You mean, in the back pocket, out of sight from the tax man! Wow! I might buy a Airline ticket right now to get in on that sort of action! :dizzy:

The bad part is, somebody with mazda and a poulan will accept her offer. Just last week a homeowner told me a similar story that made me laugh. We had worked at his house the day before, and i was dropping by to pick up a check and bid some more work for him. He had about 16 garbage bags of leaves and twigs lined up along the driveway, and I had no interest in hauling them.

Between the time we did the job and I came back, some guy had stopped to ask him I he wanted those hauled away. He did, and the guy said he'd do it for forty bucks. Naw, I was thinkin more like twenty, he told the guy. Well, they settled on 25 bucks to haul off the 16 garbage bags of leaves and twigs, and the guy proceeds to unload his woman and the kids from the car so he could stuff in the garbage bags. The trunk (yes trunk, of the car, not truck) was stuffed with crap, so he couldn't carry any in there. I guess he'd made one trip, then came back and picked everybody up to take them home, and he was supposed to be on his way back to finish when I was looking at his other trees. For twenty five bucks.

That 150's gonna looks like a gold mine to some loon out there.

ddh,
Makes me grateful that the city hauls all that stuff away for me! That is pretty wild though. Made the family get out while he hauled the leaves? Hmm...

I did a clean up for another tree company. The woman was just starting up and she didn't have a chip truck or a chipper. She needed somebody right then. She told me she usually hires guys to haul brush away on trailers. She pays them $100 to work for the day. Give them $30 for gas and $30 for dump fees. These guys were driving 60 miles one way to work for her.

Yep ! The guys around here keep the City Grapple Trucks pretty busy . They negotiate a low price with the customer & then pile it curbside. The City charges $ 7.50 for the first 15 min. & $7.50 for ea. additional 15 mins. This is billed on your City Water & Sewer Bill. Now if you own Commercial Trucks & a City Business License ( for tree work ) don't get caught pileing brush & wood curbside. City Marshalls will ticket you with a fine of up to $ 250.00 first offense. I just love being in business & trying to make a profit. Yes; I do have a Business License & pay taxes ( unless cash shows it's ugly head ).:buttkick:

"Again I post as no one showed to even look at the job. I had a bull pine come down during the storm. it is over a section of 8 foot stockade and the rest is againt another tree. Most of it is on the ground but our chain saw is too small. I am looking for someone to cut this tree up and haul it away along with the branches and brush. I will pay one hundred fifty cash for this job to be complete. If you dont have insurance you will have to sign a waiver saying your doing this at you own risk. I dont want some rooky who cant handel a chainsaw hurting themselves at my expense. You need a big chain saw, truck to haul the stuff away and some muscles. Feel free to look at the job. its right on route 11 at countrybrook kennels. The staff can show you where the tree is down. Come take a look and see if you want to earn some quick cash. If this job isint done by fri i will just hire the tree service who quoted me 200. Ps I can open the fence up so you can get the truck near the tree area."
