i agree with mellow...the woodstock soapstone is great, more even heat with the stone especially since you will be in that room and the hearth and those clearences have to be fixed for insurance purposes

Joe I agree.
Fat-jay you need to let the stove go out and then spent a week reading every thread here that you can. The find one of the guys on here that lives close to you and ask them to come to your house and give you on site advice on what to do. Do not use the stove or at the very least increase your home owners insurance, tell your agent you have a fiancee moving in and she has alot of stuff that needs to be insured.
 
tell your agent about the stove too, if that house burnt down they would see the way it was set up and may not insure the loss
