To those that subscribe or read the magazine....................what happened, issues used to near 100 pages, now the dismal 35 pages, then once you take out all the adds, there is near nothing to read anymore.

I don't ever remember them being 100 pages but I know what you mean. They ARE getting a bit skinny lately.

I'm wondering if the person or persons that run it are losing interest. I can come up with quite a few ideas for articles and reviews, but it seems like they're running out of material. Too bad too, I love that magazine.

It sounds like the new issue just came out. If you've got ideas for articles, why not contact the editor (Walter Andrzejewski)? Or, if you prefer, just PM me. We're always looking for good ideas... and good writers! Here's the web site: www.sawmillmag.com.

Try here: https://www.sawmillmag.com/app/home/index I had to google it to find it, Dave's link didn't work for me either.

It's not just this one, magazines in general are really declining. I subscribe to a few, and they keep losing content on the print version - "More online at...". It costs money to print, and many aren't willing to buy a subscription when they can find much of it free on the 'net.

Hamish I thought the same thing when I came home and saw the magazine sitting on the dinning room table, and Dave, your going to have to put in for a pay raise. I saw what, two articles by you?... I still look forward to reading it, even if it can be a little skimpy at times.

Pay???? Now there's a novel idea! Maybe I could get someone to pay me for lumber from the sawmill, too... I've heard that happens, sometimes. I haven't seen the magazine yet. Seems like a 1 week delay any time mail has to cross the Missouri border.

After many many years of getting the mag., i'm letting it go...

It's too expensive for the skimpy content, and the last time i saw them at a big sawmill show, (Paul Bunyon Show in Ohio) i went to their booth and complained. All i got was a shrug of the shoulders for an answer. WRONG ANSWER!

How about showing ALL the things people are doing in their woodlot or sawmill operations. Home-grown ideas that make getting their jobs done possible.

I like the new equipment reviews, but not everyone can afford new or even store-bought equipment. People improvise to get what they need, so let's see some of those ideas. Granted, they're not all the safest contraptions and I'm not suggesting the magazine should condone unsafe practices, but I get a LOT of ideas for my own equipment from other people's stuff. How are people cutting, transporting and storing their firewood? What kind of OWB do they have? Did they make their own? Would they share their plans?

Some of the technical articles are interesting, but some get a little too deep for most people. I'd have to guess at least half the readers don't care about the chemical composition of wood.
