Im looking for someone to mark trees which need to be removed in order to produce a healthier forest. I have 8 acres of mixed hardwood which I would use for firewood. I live in Orange County, NY. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Trees 101

A Consulting Forester is a good idea. But why not pick up some tree ID books ( there are some good ones with pics of bark, leaves, shape, etc..) and walk around. It's not difficult. 8 a. isn't too big to do yourself; then you'll know your woodland. Also: look for a local logger or arborist who'll walk your woods ( always for a 6-pack :biggrinbounce2: ) with you to point out the trees.
Look over a job site that's been harvested recently.
It's more fun to do it yourself: this is ArboristSite:blob2: .

Get a consultant forester. there is a lot that goes into a timber sale, plus he will be up on which market is best in your area as well as line up the best possible logger for the job. Make sure you get a timber deed. Good luck.
