im in the woods for 9-10, and the saw is prolly running for 5 1/2-6 1/2 of that, and i know what you mean, most fallers in the best of shape can only run a saw for 6 hours a day consistantly, ive seen some that could go much longer, and sometimes i can do, then there are days when im draggin' after 4 hours

Im a collector.....

Every cord of wood I cut/burn costs me $1247.63.

Im hoping to get it down to around $800 a cord next year.

The only time I laugh anymore is when the price of oil goes up......

Well I use saws for my job over twenty years but have yet
to be able to call it income as it don't pay. I make good money when
I work and pass it on to insurance, advertising, fuel, repairs, and if that
was not enough taxes! I have to compete with persons who pay little of that and invade our country so my optimism is fading fast!

they are my primary income...and my three main saws live in my kitchen corner, if my sheds where raided i would be screwed with out them

.... Just knocked over three nasty trees for a tee-totaling neighbor today... So not even beer...

It sure sounds like I would have avoided helping that nabour.......:givebeer:

....I give away lots of firewood for free, and help other cut for free, no income from it.

It is a hobby, not work, to me.....;) :D

I use my saws all winter cutting wood. Only time I use them in the summer is if needed, and as an excuse to get away from the wife. I guess I can say I save money with my saws, as all the firewood keeps the propane bill way down.

Normally start my saw at around 5:45-ish, after dodging log trucks and getting ready. I get up at 2:50, but stretch for about 20 minutes before I get dressed and leave.

:ices_rofl:Yup...watch out for those damn logging trucks...all those guys drive like maniacs and they get extra points for every pickup they run up the bank. :) Must be nice to be able to sleep that late every morning. Picture this...we're back on Jarbo again...two different cat sides, a helicopter side, and a chipper operation. And you thought the traffic was bad before? By Friday evening we're all punchy. Happy Father's Day. Bob

Make a living with a saw, pshaw,I'd starve to death or be real skinny.

There was a time that I cut firewood as a suppliment to my income.I have done very little real logging en masse.

Now of days I'm a collector and restorer.I might flop a few trees for others that are overwelmed with their size and might shinney up less than a dozen per year for a little trim job.Of course I cut some firewood but that's just to exercise the saws and myself. The hidden benefit is the heat from the woodstove.Kind of nice when the mercury drops below zero.
