I can answer that. These saws are great little saws in my book.

I just finished one that's a real strong runner.

+1

My only gripe is the port timing and thin base gasket. Really limits the average guy porting his own saws. Machining is needed to make them run optimum.......Although 99% of people would be satisfied with the results I got.

I cut the squish and altered the timing quite a bit. It's blowing 205psi now.

Ya, you're not quite the average guy doing this in his garage though. :msp_wink:

The mods I did could be replicated with a dremel.

That's true I reckon.....and I'm not trying to detract from this thread at all.

The first time I tore into one of these the numbers I found caused me to scratch my head for quite awhile. I was very conservative when I did that one. On this one I wanted to see how more conventional numbers worked. They respond well to any well thought out mods it seems.

You do great work BTW.

Not detracting from a thing, heck if you were not in this thread, half the conversation would be gone.....the Echo line doesn't get much attention as we well know. Toss the vid in here if you'd like.

Thanks sir for the compliment

Did you play with the ignition, Randy? This Oppama system didn't care for an advance. They must have an aggressive timing curve built in.

I did. I advanced it and will be unadvancing it as well.

Listen at the end of the video.....it's got a weird spot coming back to idle that I think is because of too much timing. I'll post up another with the timing stock in a bit.

Mitch do you get a kick out of doing these Echos?

I sure do......this saw and the 600P are fantastic saws to me.

Video is processing.....

I know exactly the sound your speaking of. Mine also fought acceleration and made the idle wonky.

Get a kick out of making under dogs stomp the big guys :msp_biggrin: Not been in a 600P yet....that's a tweener saw ya know:rolleyes2:

Here it is in white oak with the timing advanced.

Stock timing. That white oak is hard....

Faster times with the stock timing on my "watch" lol

That wood sure did look hard. Most times I run in Ash due to its consistent hard qualities....and I like to cook muh lunch over the cookies :msp_biggrin:

Yeah I agree. I didn't stopwatch anything, but it feels better with the timing in the stock location.
