Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
OK.............we've all seen the threads.............this saw is better than this saw!!!

But.............

How far does this really go???

I think some saws maybe a little better than others ( lets not put a Wildthing up against a 372).............but I largely believe it really comes down the maintenance!!!

It all comes down to Dealer support and Maintenance......

In my area Husky support suck's and Dolmar is almost none existent ..

The local Stihl dealer has a nice inventory and if its not in stock it's only a few days away..

The local Husky dealer's dont stock parts.. One orders once a week and is a 20 mile ride. The other is 1/2 mile and you have to wait till he meets his minimum order before it even gets ordered.

Dolmar ..I have two go sources, but it takes time to get the parts..

I need a good online source for Husky parts.. Any suggestion's?? other then Bailey's .....

Try all brands then ,take a look at Dealer Support its the biggest factor for me..

Sure, taking good care of a saw is important. You could probably make a Wild Thing last a couple of years and you could cook a 660 in a day. Maintenance is key. A lot of the members here run what are generally considered crappy little homeowner saws. But...they take good care of them and get good service out of them. Buying a good professional saw won't make up for not taking proper care of it.

Really there's nothin' much to do to a saw anyway - keep the chain sharp, keep cleaning the air-filter, run good 2-stroke mix - that's about it... hells teeth, I don't do a bloody thing to my 036 for months on end, just keep on pouring in the petrol... dropping 500 or so trees a day quite often... maintenance shcmaintenance, a good saw keeps on keepin' on no matter what..

This is one of the best post's I have ever seen on here! I totally agree. Granted some saw's are more powerful, better parts availability. But if you take care of them. I think you will get your money's worth out of any saw you just have to respect it's limitations. A wildthing wont cut as fast as a ms361 But it also cost much less. The wild thing was never meant to be a pro, use it all the time saw. But if you own one and use it for occasional cutting thats what it was meant for. But most people who own one do not even, or cannot read the owners manual!Never change or clean air filters or even understand what 2 stroke mix fuel is.I know lot's of people who own the small{Home owner Stihls] and not one of them would run or cut as well as my Poulan 2550. Hell you could own a 6hp saw but with a dull or backward chain{Don't laugh I seen it}you ain't gonna out cut a guy with a well maintained little saw. You might first cut until you burn things up!

a+++
i totaly agree it aint the brand or price of saw it is the daily and monthly maintence. i have old homeowner saws in the shop that still run well after their expected life because of proper maintence.:chainsawguy: :cheers: :popcorn:

This is SO true, and I agree with all of you guys.

Something I would add is that some guys are just plain hard on equipment. Saws, mowers, trucks, excavators, whatever. Some guys can break anything. They bang and pull and beat on every piece of equipment they own and consequently nothing seems to last very long for them.

And flush out the tank change the fuel filter, in your case... I'd say every few months.
