When I bought my 261cm they gave me a deal paying cash. Do dealers still give a deal paying cash?
Yes many folks show up here with cash and leave with saws. One gentleman left last Thursday with a new 500i and one left today with a used 038S

I pay my vet in cash
I pay the machine shop in cash.
Grandpa bought new trucks and tractors with cash

I think nowadays a lot of companies incur credit card fees when customers use credit cards, so the "cash deal" is really just the regular price, as the credit card price is inflated to cover the fees. May not always be the case, but I've seen that at several places before.

I take personal checks and the hillbilly payment plan

Credit card companies charge a % fee to handle their transaction. The % depends on the deal the store has agreed with the CC company. Chain stores have higher volumes, so lower transaction fee %s.
A small franchise/dealer can easily pay 5-7% or more of the transaction to the CC company for handling it for him.
For large purchases, I regularly ask a non-chain store if they offer "cash discounts" and if so, how much?
Quite often, both I and the store save money....

I start by asking if "these ever go on sale" type question. That usually tells me if the retailer is flexible, most say no. Then I come in with "is there any consideration for paying with dead presidents". Some are flexible, some not. Usually, the smaller guys come back with a decent reduction. Some hold to their guns, then it depends on how bad I want it, or if I can shop elsewhere.

Wish I got paid in cash for machine shop services, Always a company check. I tend to pay in cash but the Internet purchases are always CC. Harbor Freight is on their CC and I buy enough at one time to qualify for X months, same as cash no finance charge.

I finance farm equipment so long as it's 0 percent financing.

It's said..'There is no romance to the finance'...

Might be a Canadian thing but I bought a new SUV last summer and the dealers all wanted to charge more (about $2000) if I paid cash. Had to finance part of it.
Get a loan with no pre repayment fee and pay it off on the first installment

I wouldn’t do business with a dealer who did that .
