Yes actually I have. I was given an 2019 Stihl MS 311 that had either been straight gassed or not properly maintained.

Anyways I bought a MS 391 Hyway Titanikel Head Kit that came with a pop up piston and Caber rings. Yes it was a couple bucks more expensive but the saw runs beautifully now. Also I had originally decided to plug the decomp valve... Well after doing that the saw had so much compression I thought I was going to break my wrist LOL So I put a new decomp valve in and matched the saw with a Performance Muffler and now she's my favorite firewood cutting saw. I run a 24/25" bar and you can DEFINITELY NOTICE the Gains when your in the cut.

Hope this helps 🫡 and Good Luck !

Yep, or burying it dawgs deep and putting a hell of a strain on everything under the covers. Each to their own.
Over here we work on the theory a big saw can handle what a small saw does, but a small saw shouldn't be asked to do what a big saw can.
I get a few smaller saws that are fairly crispy that come in- overworked, I agree with you Bob 100%
